Curriculum Overview
At St. Joachim Catholic School, we are committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and the development of the whole child. Rooted in Catholic tradition, our curriculum nurtures spiritual, intellectual, and moral growth, ensuring that students develop critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Aligned with state and national standards, our rigorous academic program integrates Catholic values throughout all subjects, preparing students to become faith-filled leaders and responsible global citizens.
PRESCHOOL & TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK)
Our Preschool & TK program follows a whole-child approach to learning, ensuring students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually in a faith-filled environment. We utilize a variety of Diocesan-approved curriculums and resources that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the California Early Learning Standards (CELS). These standards emphasize:
Social-Emotional Development – Encouraging self-awareness, relationship skills, and emotional regulation.
Language & Literacy – Developing early reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills.
Mathematics – Introducing numbers, patterns, measurement, and problem-solving.
Cognitive Development – Fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
Physical Development & Health – Enhancing fine and gross motor skills, along with healthy habits.
The Arts – Encouraging self-expression through music, movement, and visual arts.
Science & Social Studies – Cultivating an understanding of the natural world and community roles.
Faith Formation – Helping children develop a relationship with God through prayer, scripture, and values-based learning.
Our Preschool & TK classrooms provide a structured yet play-based environment where students engage in hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond.
