ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES
AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT
Collaborating with specialized external providers, we offer engaging activities such as art, basketball, chess, coding, cooking, LEGOs, piano, kidokinetics, STEM. Each program is designed to inspire young minds and cultivate skills in a supportive environment.
DRAMA CLUB
Our Drama Club provides a vibrant opportunity for students to explore their theatrical talents in a supportive and inclusive environment rooted in Catholic values. From acting and stagecraft to teamwork and self-expression, students discover the joy of storytelling while building confidence and forging lifelong friendships.
Choir
The St. Joachim School Choir, open to students in Grades 3-8, teaches the fundamentals of singing, harmonizing, and performance. Students gain personal responsibility and commitment while developing a life-long appreciation for choral music from various eras and styles.
Our choir performs at school worship services, Christmas and end-of-year concerts, and designated Sunday Masses. Participation in the choir fosters a unique sense of belonging and offers opportunities to learn and appreciate the Gospel.
ATHLETICS
Our athletic philosophy emphasizes holistic development, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We view athletics as an extension of our Catholic values, promoting inclusive and joyful physical activity. Our coaches focus on fostering virtues, both on and off the field, contributing to a lifetime of character development and commitment to excellence.
Fall Sports (Grades 5-8): Boys Flag Football, Girls Volleyball
Winter Sports (Grades 5-8): Boys & Girls Basketball
Spring Sports (Grades 5-8): Boys Volleyball, Girls Beach Volleyball, Girls Flag Football
Grades 1 and up can participate in Track Meets. Grades 3 and up can participate in Newport-Mesa Soccer Classic.
ALTAR SERVING
Students in Grades 5-8 can participate in altar serving, with extensive training provided by St. Joachim Parish. This program offers a meaningful way for students to engage with their faith and contribute to our church community.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Student Council embodies leadership and service with a spirit of faith and community. Our student council empowers students to actively participate in school events, community service projects, and initiatives that promote unity and kindness. Through fostering leadership skills and encouraging responsible citizenship, we create an inclusive environment where students contribute to positive change at SJCS.
ACADEMIC DECATHLON
The Academic Junior High Decathlon (AJHD) is an academic competition that challenges students in Grades 6-8 across various disciplines including literature, mathematics, science, current events, fine arts, social studies, and religion. It encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and academic excellence through rigorous preparation and friendly competition. Participants showcase their knowledge and skills in regional and statewide events, fostering a spirit of achievement and community within our school.
